The last year represents one of solid progress for New World. We increased our stock by completing the transfer of 17 new homes to the association and took another 8 homes from management to ownership. More importantly, we laid firm foundations for future growth. During the year we completed a review of our business plan and have set out our plans for the future. We see ourselves as a growing independent organisation able to offer high standards of service to residents, backed up by sound policies and good governance to deliver for coming years. We have set out two clear main objectives – growing the organisation and offering the highest standards of services. Our strong balance sheet and healthy annual surpluses will enable the association to take new stock into ownership and management without putting the organisation at risk. We are now working in partnership with other associations to begin the process of growing again, in a sustained, manageable way. The association has over the last year been looking at ways of more closely engaging with our residents to achieve not just consultation, but to develop services that are shaped around residents with opportunities for involvement at all levels. We have already completed a number of service reviews with residents that have ensured their views are fed directly into what our new policies and procedures say and the way we work for the future. We will be building on this over the coming year. During the year we strengthened our governance arrangements by welcoming three new members to the Board of Management and I would like to thank all my colleagues on the Board and all the staff for their hard work and commitment over the course of the year.
